John Callas has been a leader of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Project since the project's inception in 2000, and has been the project manager since 2006. The project landed twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity on Mars in January 2004. This photo of him was taken in the project's mission support area at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., where the team still operates Opportunity 10 years later. A full-size model of the rover is behind him.
