During late December 2025 and January 2026, Mars and Earth are on opposite sides of the Sun, blocking radio communications between them. Perseverance will resume sending raw images in late January. Watch video on Mars solar conjunction

Mars Perseverance Sol 0: Lander Vision System Camera

This image was taken by LCAM onboard NASA's Mars rover Perseverance on Sol 0

NASA's Mars Perseverance rover acquired this image using its Lander Vision System Camera. This camera is mounted on the left side near the front of the rover and looks down at the surface to aid with Terrain-Relative Navigation.

This image was acquired on Feb. 28, 2021 (Sol 0) at the local mean solar time of 15:50:46.
