MAVEN Rolls to the Pad
The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, or MAVEN, spacecraft arrives at the pad at Space Launch Complex 41 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida after a 20-minute journey from the Vertical Integration Facility. Rollout began on schedule with first motion at 9:57 a.m.
Countdown clocks across Cape Canaveral Air Force Station have paused as planned for a 30-minute hold at the T-2 hour mark. NASA's MAVEN spacecraft awaits liftoff at 1:28 p.m. EST aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. Launch managers and controllers are gathered in the Atlas Space Operations Center, where they are monitoring the progress of countdown activities at Space Launch Complex 41. The next major milestone is the loading of propellants aboard the rocket, or "tanking," shortly after the countdown resumes at 11:18 a.m.
