The long, sinuous raised ridges on this fan of material are thought to be inverted stream channels. These ridges may have been low-lying streambeds that hardened and then turned into ridges when the surrounding material was eroded. This fan of material is also marked by linear, streamlined ridges oriented roughly south to north. These are yardangs, streamlined remnants of material shaped by the action of sand-blown sediments that eroded away weaker material.
