More evidence of a dynamic Mars is revealed at the edge of a martian dune field. Scientists have observed gullies created by defrosting of carbon dioxide ice, as well as actual 1 meter carbon dioxide blocks. Ten years in, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter's HiRise camera makes it easy to conduct repeat observations to track seasonal changes, year after year. This area was last observed in 2011, and three years later, scientists can again see the active processes shaping the martian landscape.
