Don Freeman
Don Freeman has been with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the past eighteen years. He is currently the administrator of the Service Coordinator Grant Program for the Los Angeles Multifamily Housing Division. As grants administrator, he works with grantees in the areas of training, orientation, financial and program management.

Also, Mr. Freeman serves as the HUD Neighborhood Networks Coordinator for the Southern California region. In that capacity, he works directly with the Office of Neighborhood Networks in Washington DC, assisting in training HUD staff and coordinating the implementation of the Neighborhood Networks Strategic Tracking and Reporting Tool (START) throughout the nation. Also, He works closely with businesses, community groups, faith-based organizations and other local partners to help create Neighborhood Networks Centers in or around affordable housing communities.

Mr. Freeman believes that the key to building strong and vibrant affordable housing communities is to bring the various institutions of mainstream America that deal with social, economic, and educational needs into Neighborhood Networks Centers as local and national partners. Mr. Freeman was instrumental in developing partnerships with NASA and Junior Achievement that provide afterschool programs for twenty-five Neighborhood Networks Centers.

Before joining HUD, He spent tens years working for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) as a loan officer and public affairs officer. He specialized in designing programs to help encourage the creation, growth, and expansion of minority and women-owned businesses in the urban communities. He holds a BS degree in business administration at California State University at Long Beach.
